Book Review: Inside Nissan

Although I read this book nearly a couple of months back and a lot has happenned in life between then and now, I choose to write a brief review of whatever I can remember. I found the book interesting because it exposes one to both the personality of someone significantly global and still primarily European (there is a little irony in there isn't it?) and the automotive industry in Japan, and how it is seen by an outsider. Both these subjects are close to my heart.

About the turn-around of Nissan, I still do not know if the things done were right. I still don't know if the things done are sustainable. The whole idea of the 20 billion plan (which got him the top job in nissan) seems fascinating. But then he seems not to be the kind of guy who can explain execution. He sounds like it is quite simple to execute if you are in the top and you have the right people. Infact execution seems to be the simpler thing for him once you have a goal (even if it sounds ridiculously unrealistic) and the strategy to achieve it. I have seen several strategies made in some of the best companies in the world and not executed well enough or the way it was intended to be.
